Zero Gravity Simulation
Zero Gravity Simulation Overview
Simulation of unconstrained (free-free) boundary conditions is a longstanding problem in ground vibration testing of spacecraft. Moog CSA's zero gravity simulation systems imitate true free-free boundary conditions in dynamic testing of structures. Additionally, they produce a very high level of isolation from environmental disturbances in testing of sensitive structures and instruments.
Moog CSA has developed two families of zero gravity simulation systems. Both use a unique frictionless air spring and air bearings to produce vertical suspension frequencies below 0.2 Hz for payloads from less than 20 lbs to over 5000 lbs per suspension device. The unmatched performance of the devices has allowed customers to complete dynamic tests not otherwise possible. Both families have over 15 years of proven heritage in a wide range of applications.
